Hollywood drama is no longer staying on screen. This time, it is spilling into real life with suitcases involved. Kristen Stewart, the ‘Twilight’ star who grew into an Oscar-nominated indie darling, has dropped a bombshell: she is probably not staying in the United States. And yes, politics is at the heart of it.
In a recent interview with ‘The Times of London’, Stewart spoke openly about how life in America feels under Donald Trump’s second presidency.

“Reality is breaking”: Stewart’s honest take on life in the US
Stewart did not mince words. She said reality in the US feels like it is “breaking completely” under Trump’s leadership. According to her, it has become hard to live and even harder to work freely.
When asked if she sees herself staying in the US while Trump continues to lead, her answer was simple: “Probably not.”
Still, she made it clear she is not fully giving up. Stewart said she wants to make films in Europe and then bring those films back to America. In her own bold style, she joked that she would “shove them down the throat of the American people.”
More celebrities are leaving America
Stewart is not the only star looking elsewhere for peace of mind. Several famous names have already stepped away from the US during Trump’s second term.
Ellen DeGeneres and Rosie O’Donnell are among those who have chosen to leave. For them, it is not about glamour or tax breaks. It is about feeling safe, sane, and heard.
Oscar-winning filmmaker James Cameron has also spoken openly about why he prefers living in New Zealand instead of America.
James Cameron chooses sanity over scenery
Cameron, who moved to New Zealand while working on the ‘Avatar’ films, said his decision had everything to do with science and common sense.
During the pandemic, New Zealand managed to eliminate COVID-19 twice. When the virus returned in a new form, the country already had a 98% vaccination rate. Cameron compared this with the US, where vaccination rates were much lower and still falling.
“I’m not there for the scenery,” Cameron said. “I’m there for the sanity.”
Rosie O’Donnell: “When would it be safe to come back?”
Rosie O’Donnell also has no plans to return to the US anytime soon. Speaking to ‘Variety’, she said she is thinking about her child’s safety above everything else.
With the current political climate, she asked a simple question: when would it be safe to come back? For now, her answer is, not yet.
Kristen Stewart vs Trump: A history of bad blood
Stewart’s tension with Trump is not new. Back in 2012, he famously tweeted about her personal life, telling her then-boyfriend Robert Pattinson to dump her.
Years later, Stewart reacted with disbelief. She said Trump seemed obsessed with her and called the situation “insane.”
Now, more than a decade later, she is still speaking her truth, this time with a passport possibly ready.
Hollywood may love red carpets, but for some stars, peace of mind matters more. And right now, many feel they need to find it far away from home.
